Just like how a washing machine removes dirt and smells, you would think cleaning your carpet with a machine would do the same. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The urine, especially if it's a lot, must be flushed out before the smell goes away completely. This is because the urine soaks down into the padding of the carpet. Imagine your carpet is like a sponge. Any liquid that doesn't get cleaned up right away gets soaked up by the carpet. You might not smell the urine, especially if your dog just had a small accident. The "Rug Doctor" you rent can clean the surface stains but once the water hits the lingering urine, the smell reemerges. If you want the smell gone, make sure you call a professional to flush out the urine and make your home smell good again. Call 704-904-2964 or book us, Mae's Carpet Cleaning, to help you with any urine problem.
![]() You see them all the time. It sits in the center of every sink, at the end of every bathtub, and could be anywhere at the bottom of a shower stall… Drains that faithfully and efficiently work to take away soapy water, food waste and more. When they slow down or stop working, its very frustrating and annoying. Your first instinct is to grab a plunger, which could work but usually… it doesn’t. But it doesn't hurt to try! Sometimes a connecting drain to the plugged one allows air to escape so plunging is useless. You can plug the second drain with a towel or cloth, and that might help. If plunging doesn’t work, consider these steps to enable a drain to do what it’s job. Step 1 The drain could be clogged with something that could be melted, dissolved or moved by super-hot water. Boil an entire pot of water and pour it into the drain. It might be enough to clear the drain. Step 2 Often things, such as hair and other protein matter, can plug up drains, especially in sinks, tubs, and showers in bathrooms. Pouring enough chlorine bleach to fill the drain and allowing the solution to work on the hair will work. Chlorine bleach is very inexpensive but very powerful. It will eat its way through a drain blocked with hair and clear it out so it drains effectively. Step 3 Unclogging a drain with a "snake” will move what’s stuck. You can purchase a tool like this at your local hardware store. Insert the end of the snake into the drain and push and pull until you move the blockage or can pull it out. You can do this from the drain itself or from the pipe below if possible. Sometimes a clogged drain creates a big mess. When that happens, and for all your cleaning needs, call your cleaning pros for help. |
